It has been such a blessing to work with twenty people of varied artistic backgrounds to create “Breaking Free'“. An exhibit that takes the meditative art of pysanky to a new level. Through the month of January we wrote pysanky, broke pysanky and transformed pysanky into amazing mixed media art. During February 2026, these are on display at Artful Journey Gallery / 4701 N University / Peoria, IL. From March 2nd through April 12th the exhibit can be viewed at Five Points / 360 N Wilmor Rd / Washington, IL.
If you are in the area, there will be an Artist’s Reception on Saturday, February 21st from 1pm to 4pm at Artful Journey and another Artist’s Reception on Sunday, March 8th from 1pm to 4pm at Five Points.
Both exhibits include all the mixed media paintings created by students as well as some completed “and whole” pysanky from my collection. Several were made specifically for “Breaking Free”.
